About Zieleniec

Zieleniec Ski Arena is one of the best and the largest ski resorts in Poland, with its origins dating back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Today Zieleniec is visited not only by fans of skiing from all over Poland, but also by visitors from the neighbouring countries such as Czech Republic or Germany, and the resort itself is regularly awarded in various plebiscites and contests.

Location

The ski resort owes its popularity to its unique location. Situated between the peaks of the Orlickie and Bystrzyckie mountains and lying at an altitude of 800-960 meters, it is one of the most beautiful places of this kind in Poland. An additional attraction of the resort are some beautiful views which provide an unforgettable experience at any time of the year.

Microclimate and ski season

One of the most important advantages and the distinguishing factor of Zieleniec, in comparison with other ski resorts in Poland, is the specific microclimate similar to the Alpine climate. Its uniqueness is related to the air pressure system, which is exceptional in the region, due to which the human body produces an increased number of red blood cells. This improves our mood, allows us to recover faster and rest more effectively.

Another asset of the resort, connected with its exceptional location and climate, are the snow conditions. A large amount of snowfall (1300 mm during the year, of which 40% falls from November to March) causes that the snow remain here for about 150 days a year. Therefore, if winter comes at the turn of November and December, it is usually possible to ski in Zieleniec even during Easter holidays.

However, Zieleniec is not only a ski resort, but also a perfect place to relax all year round, especially for families with younger children, as well as being a great place for setting off to explore other interesting places in the Kłodzko Valley. Orlickie and Bystrzyckie mountains are perfect for day trips, which will certainly not be too challenging for the youngest ones.

Attractions, parties, events

Zieleniec Ski Arena is a resort of lively atmosphere throughout the entire ski season. Already with the first snowfall and the opening of lifts operations, the Free Ski action starts, which entitles skiers, who stay overnight in the resort, to avail of the free use of lifts and cable-cars (details of the action available on the website).

Ceremonial opening of every season is usually very uproarious, and it normally takes place in early December. At this point, two reservations are important – everything depends, of course, on the weather prevailing in Zieleniec. But the good news is– very often, some lifts are ready to be used even earlier. The resort is always ready in terms of ski equipment for the second half of November, and provided that the temperature stays permanently below 0 degrees, snow cannons are launched in full swing.

Every year Zieleniec Ski Arena invites you to spend Christmas and the New Year’s Eve in the resort. Numerous attractions, accompanying events, Midnight Mass, folk music concerts, common carolling and feasting and, of course, skiing till late evening (and in the case of New Year’s Eve, even till late night hours) are all guaranteed by Zieleniec, which will provide an unforgettable atmosphere, one that is hard to find in any other place in Poland. Additionally, it has become more and more popular to spend Easter holidays in Zieleniec, when the prevailing weather conditions are still perfect for skiing.

But Zieleniec also hosts a series of competitions, and members of all generations are invited to participate in them, regardless of their advancement concerning skiing or snowboarding skills. Children’s Cup “Puchar Orlicy” – one of the most important ski events in the region, Bronisław Haczkiewicz Memorial in alpine skiing and Polish Championships of snowboard instructors and trainers are just some competitions that are already part of the calendar of the most important winter sports events in the region.
